Quick Impressions: Minecraft's Halloween Update

November 6 While I should probably just keep in mind that Notch is just one guy making a big game company, I'm still kind of annoyed by his recent Halloween update.
Well, some of the fault is my own. I thought of the update as something it didn't end up being and no one said it was. I expected bug fixes for multiplayer, as in working health and monsters. I expected one guy to be able to code all his shit while making the whole update by himself. He couldn't do all that I wanted but he did a lot of stuff, and that's great.
The Halloween update was meant to add a bunch of cool things, like different environmental areas like deserts and forests, pumpkins, fishing, and portals to a hell area. He got those done... for single player. I almost exclusively do multiplayer. He was unable to get portals to hell working, or fishing.
As it is, multiplayer remains an offshoot of the creative mode, where you're invincible and survival is trivial. The name of the mode is survival multiplayer, where you gather stuff and try to stay alive. However, it's easy to get stuff when there's no danger of dying and losing progress. Working heath would make it much more fun. And I don't think I'll really play much of it until he does that.
